We’re always told to ‘go green’ but recycling can often seem like a chore. Washing old jam jars, lugging lumpy bags filled with plastic packaging and cardboard cartons to your front yard for collection; it feels like a synthetic grind. But Ecominds (a subsidiary of the mental health charity ‘Mind’) is an initiative to help improve people’s well being and mental health by encouraging them to get fresh air, partake in outdoor activities, fostering and strengthening relationships in their communities, contributing to local environmental rejuvenation and maintenance.
What to do, what to do, what to do?
Activities can include community horticulture, rambling groups (that is walking- not talking too much!), wild life habitat creation, community cleaning projects, creating green areas in urban environments, artwork creation and an amalgam of other fun and productive activities.
How Many and Where
Mind has funded over 130 environmental activities which are spread throughout England so there are plenty for you to choose from. They are easy to travel to so there aren’t many excuses you will have for not getting out there and getting active!
